Family owned and operated since the 1950’s, Sarasota Florist is the oldest shop in town. Arlene Rhyne, the owner and hands-on designer, makes sure each order that leaves Sarasota Florist meets her standards before being delivered to your special someone. She has been in the plant and floral business for 33 years. She has a horticulture degree and has worked in both plant nurseries and flower shops all her life. Her husband and two sons help out all the time, delivering, setting up for weddings and funerals, and keeping the shop and computers in tip-top shape. To add to our happy family, Sarasota Florist employs an International staff. Lis is from Germany, who is a floral designer with over 23 years of experience, both in Europe and in the US. She has a degree in floral design and agricultural engineering. Along with these assets, she speaks fluent German. Barbara works with us part time. She is from Poland and speaks fluent Polish & French. She is our Sarasota Memorial Hospital gift shop specialist. For years, we have been supplying them daily with fresh arrangements. Casey is from Connecticut and is pursuing a career in Nursing, currently attending Manatee Community College’s RN Program. She is the manager/floral designer and is the go-to girl for whatever the shop needs (usually lunch or coffee!).
